Turtle washed up on Irish beach gets VIP treatment and relocates to Gran Canaria.

A turtle that washed up on a county Donegal beach in Ireland is on his way to Gran Canaria today.

 

The turtle named Julius Caesar, by locals, washed up on the beach in 2019 but has been unable to return to warmer climates due to Covid restrictions.

 

The Loggerhead turtle is an endangered species and needs a warm climate. 

 

JC, as he is known to locals, now weighs 25 kilos. 

 

He will be transported today from Dublin to Gran Canaria by Aer Lingus.
