The Canary Islands has extended its Covid insurance for tourists. The insurance cover was first started a year ago with Axa insurance.
The free insurance guarantees repatriation and expenses for tourists that get Covid on holidays in the Canary Islands.
The Canary Islands thus becomes the first Spanish Community in which tourists will have travel assistance coverage with guarantees of medical expenses, health repatriation and prolongation of stays due to quarantine related to COVID-19 to comply with forced confinement in the event of a positive result.
The insurance is offered to those staying in approved tourist accommodation, and the traveller did not know before travelling to the islands that they had contracted the virus, as set out in the conditions of the insurance policy.
The extension is effective from this week and will initially have a validity of 12 months.
How do one confirm approved accommodation, is there a site to check a specific hotel /apartment?
It is regulated licenced accommodation. Most accommodation would be this way unless it were maybe an individual renting their apartment without being regulated. You could always ask before booking.
