The Spanish government has allowed self-testing antigen tests to be sold in pharmacies from today, the 20th of July.
The tests will be available without a prescription. The government has decided to allow the tests due to the recent rise in covid cases.
The antigen will costs from 7 to 10 Euro.
Spain has now followed Germany, France, Portugal, Italy and Austria in allowing antigen tests to be brought over the counter.
The kits available will consist of antigen and antibody tests and will provide rapid results. In the case of antigen tests, the time required is as little as 15 minutes. However, the reliability is lower than that of PCR testing.
Pharmaceutical companies are to be allowed to promote the test through advertising.
