EU questions Spains decision to allow UK tourists without tests.

EU spokesman Eric Mamer has questioned Spain over its different policy for arrivals into the country.

It is your responsibility, but we ask for consistency for the good of the citizens of the European Union, Mamer said.

On the 24th of May, Spain opened its borders to citizens of the UK without demanding any proof of covid tests or vaccination.

Spain would not be consistent with the recommendations issued in the EU for all arrivals from non-EU countries (vaccination or negative test), including the UK.

They also asked if Brexit gives an advantage to vacation in Spain.

The Council’s recommendation is that Member States require people travelling for essential or non-essential reasons (from outside the EU) to have a negative PCR test” carried out at least 72 hours before, underlined the spokesman for the Interior, Adalbert Jantz

The UK was not added to the EU’s safe list countries this week.

Over 70% of people in the UK have received at least one vaccine.

Jet2 has said 85% of their customers will not travel to an Amber list country.
