July 2020 was a difficult month for the Canary Islands tourism industry.  It was the first full month international tourists could visit since February because of the COVID 19 pandemic.  Some regular airlines did not operate to the islands in July, and many hotels did not reopen.

In July 2020 216,740 international visitors arrived at the Canary Islands airports.  That was 79% fewer than July 2019.  80,240 people came from the Spanish mainland in July 2020.  That was 65% fewer than July 2019.

Package holidays were most popular with German tourists. Spanish mainland visitors are more likely to book accommodation only.

The Swiss like to stay in Hotels.  Nordic visitors prefer to stay in non hotel accommodation.

Fuerteventura is the most popular island for package holidays.   Visitors to Tenerife are more likely to book accommodation only.

Visitors to Fuertevenura stay in hotels more than any other island.  Visitors to Tenerife are almost equally split between hotels or other types of accommodation.
